As always, thanks in advance for your kind help.
I'm having problems with my dvd burner.
The problem is I can't burn and it won't read discs.
The drive does not show up in My Computer.
It does show up in BIOS (secondary slave for the new one) and in Device Manager.
However, in Device Manager, there is an error (yelloe with exclamation point.) Windows can't find a better driver.
I checked the cable connections and replaced the cable.
I replaced the burner, same problem with a new one.
I'm using XP Pro SP2 and should be pretty up to date
The new burner is a Lte-on DVDRW LH-20A1P
This has been driving me nuts for a couple days and is getting sort of critical because I need to load some software.
Thank you
Larry

Additional info:
In device manager--->properties--->general there is this message

Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)

Just wanted to say this has been fixed.
Who would have thought that Microsoft had an answer.
Thank you for allowing me to past and thank you for all your past help.
