upgrading BT ADSL Router

hi i am having trouble upgrading from a BT 105 adsl Router to the 205.

when i remove the old software and connect the new one it installs the releavent software and then says the new router cannot be found on the network.

I have reset the 205 ADSL router and restarted it but it dosent seem to make any difference.

i am upgrading from the BT Voyager 105 to the BT Voyager 205.
