my anti virus program deteted a virus a few days ago while i was on the internet, but could not quarantineor delete the virus. it could, however, tell me where the virus was-- in the 'temporary internet files' under the folder 'local settings'. so i went to this 'temporary internet files' folder and deleted everything in it... :tazz:

now whenever i open IE, windows always pop up with ads. the ads are all about the same things but have different URLs. what can i do to stop them?? i dont' want to use a pop up remover or something like that, i want to get rid of whatever's causing the popups... plus IE seems to be having some probs, the 'there was a problem and ie needs to close' thing is popping up all the time, but when i click on 'do not report', ie doesn't close. instead the taskbar at the bottom of the screen disappears for a while and when it appears again the programs on the taskbar has rearranged themselves... and the computer's making weird clicking noises.. i dunno if this has anything to do with anything... what can i do??? help anybody please!

I realise Compu may have seemed a bit glib in their response, but I would still highly recommend changing your browser to Firefox. You could not lose by at least doing a bit of Googling on the subject.

But on your IE problem, if you haven't already, please follow the steps in here:

http://www.geekstogo..._Log-t2852.html

Have you been through these steps?

Just on this subject....

Ive heard from many Firefox is substantially better but have had no real convincing info why...

Could anyone give reasons why.

If its mainly regarding speed, i cant really say i find Firefox faster, it may be due to my fast connection but what is everyone elses opinion?

*Just noticed the IE vs Firefox Thread* doh!
