I have Verizon DSL...seems whenever there is a thunderstorm..even when it's a considerable distance away..my internet connection drops..usually only momentarily ..and i re-log and it drops again..this will go on as long as the storm is in the area...i spoke to a technician in the alley as he was working on a neighbor's unrelated problem...he said i should not be having that problem and suggested i call in a work order...so before i speak to someone in India i thought I'd see if any of you have a suggestion..

even when it's a considerable distance away

It might be away from you, but it could be hammering your DSL (phone) cables... So the problem doesn't exist when there's no storm? Maybe something's just a bit loose, not sure. My suggestion is brush up on your Indian... :whistling:

My point was that the DSL connection part of your exchange (which has nothing to do with you, you only connect to it) might be in need of maintenance/repair (and the storm just sets it off) and you should log a call to see if they can do anything. It's extremely difficult to diagnose this kind of problem. If everything works fine when there is no storm over you or even up to some distance away, then I would be calling them and asking what's going on?

I don't recall mentioning or even thinking about wind?

Similar problems here. My DSL is crap anyway(get less than 1/2 the speed I pay for on a good day) but during a storm forget about it. I get about 1 min into a match and I get disconnected, I can log back in right away but then a few min later same thing. I have had ppl out to my house from the phone company(embarq) and ppl from a professional wiring service out to my house and they say no problems. I hate DSL I cant wait till I can get cable in my area.
