Hello dabest and welcome to G2G!

Have you tried running the game in compatibility mode?

Right click shortcut > click properties > click compatibility > tick run the program in compatibiity mode > select Windows 95 or 98 from the drop down menu > click apply and then click OK.

Browse the CD and run the setup.exe file. I would try running the setup file in Windows 95/98 compatibility mode.

The disk could well be a dodgy copy.

there is a process called zeus.exe running and taking about 100 cpu (i checked the task manager)
what should i do?

I used Alchohol 120% on XP, sp 2, Safedisc 2...my copy is a bit scratched. I had the same problem when mounting the image, then it crashing directly to desktop without warning or error. Compatibility mode did not work; however, mounting it with Daemon Tools using Securom emulation completely resolved the problem. You might try making an ISO of the disc and running it that way...it's a very efficient method for bypassing errors on scratched discs. I wouldn't try it with an illegal ISO, though...I used my own personal copy.
