My motherboard and power supply were hit, i got some money from the insurance company and need to get a new mobo.

Current system (the one that got hit) :
  • AMD x2 Athlon 4600+ (still good)
  • 2 gigs of ram DDR2 (still good)
  • 320 gig SATA2 (still good)
  • ATI Radeon x1600(still good)
  • Power Supply (dead)
  • Motherboard (Dead)
I was thinking of possibly taking the money and getting a AMD X2 6000+ and a new MOBO. Gonna spend about 300 to get this working, any suggestions?

AMD X2 6000+ $169.99
Gigabyte motherboard $88.99
Thermaltake PSU $59.99

Here's an example of what you could do, that'd take you a little bit over your budget, but that processor eats into more than half of it.

Be leary, because ANYTHING hit by lightning/ power spikes/ static is suspect to being bad. Therfore your memory/ HD/ graphics, could have issues.

Yes, good point 123Runner. Commodore64: How do you know those parts are still good? Have you tested them on another system?
