Hi Ive got a Toshiba Satellite Pro A10. just recently I noticed the CD/DVD drive has stopped reading. The hardware is listed below:

Toshiba dvd rom sd c2612

I have got an external DVD drive which I use sometimes, also I sometimes use powerIso. Now Im wondering if somehow I've messed up the driver or something??

I would appreciate any help available!!

ok then..... does anyone happen to know how I find out which DVD drives are compatible with my laptop? and where I can get one from?

Well drats - I have a PC (winXP pro) that just started having the exact same problem. The CD drive used to work fine, but now it won't read any CD I put into it. It doesn't even spin up.

Windows seems to see it ok - if I right click on the drive in Windows Explorer, I can select "eject" and the drive bay opens. Hardware manager says it's working properly.
