Hi,

I bought a new HP laptop dv6516tx. It comes with Windows Vista installed on it. I wanted to install Wnidows Xp. I tried installing using a bootable XP with SP2 CD, but it throws up the following message "Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer.Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected to your computer, and that any disk-related hardware configuration is correct".

I checked in a number of forums and the only solution I could find is to use a floppy disk to install SATA driver during OS installtion by pressing F6 key. But the model dv6516tx does not have a Floppy drive.

It would be really helpful if somebody can provide me with some other solution.

Try installing SATA drivers from a plug-in floppy drive, though you may have to buy an HP one to ensure that it functions on your HP laptop.

The only other option is to create a 'slipstreamed' Windows XP CD with the correct SATA drivers "embedded" in it, which XP setup will automatically install. That seems to be the usual solution to the 'no floppy drive' problem when SATA drivers are needed.
