I would like to add a 2ND hard drive to my HP. how would I go about doing that and would I be able to save stuff to the new one while using the old one?

Since we have no idea what model HP you have, I can only suggest that you go to the HP website, put your model information in, follow their instructions for adding another drive. Many machines are only made to use a single drive in which case you can get an external hard drive for your purposes. Not a bad idea anyway, for back up purposes. You may need to add a USB2.0 PCI card to get decent transfer rates.
