How to activate my XP

I had a fine working computer when I decided to upgrade. I bought a new motherboard and a new CPU. It recognizes my old files and everything from my HDD but I am unable to activate my XP to use my account. It says it is unable to establish a connection with the activation server. I am plugged into a router providing internet to two other computers and that cable is plugged into my motherboard's onboard Ethernet Port. How can I fix my internet without accessing my account? Thanks in advance.
