My laptop went down last week due to some mother board problem. I came across a used laptop.

The owner of laptop says that it randomly shuts down itself while in use.

I wish to know the probable causes of this problem.

I could think of some virus, driver or the windows installation problems.

Can it have any hardware issues also?

Please help me in deciding whether its worth buying this laptop or not.

Thanks

Yes, it very well may have hardware issues. It could be anything, from a overheating processor to a bad battery. Without diagnosing the laptop in person, this kind of issue is hard to tell.
