I have a client with a problem, I believe to be a browser malware program called Zeno Search Assistant. His system is running McAfee Virus Scanner, which finds the rascal, is told to delete it, but after a reboot, it reappears. I am attaching the Hijack log. Can anyone analyze it, and give advice?

Download SDFix and save it to your desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to C:\SDFix

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode (without Networking) by doing the following :

• Restart your computer
  
• After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  
• Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
  
• Select the option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
  
• Choose your usual account.

• Open the C:\SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  
• Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
  
• It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  
• Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
  
• When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  
• Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
  (Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
  
• Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back here along with a Combofix log..(below)

Download Combofix to your desktop.
Doubleclick combofix.exe
Follow the prompts.
Don't click on the window while the fix is running, because that will cause your system to hang.

When finished and after reboot (in case it asks to reboot), it should open a log, combofix.txt.

Do you have links where I can get SDfix, and ComboFix? I did a Google search, but didn't get much there, but warnings about ComboFix. I assume it is now fixed!!!!

I have finally been able to remove the Zeno malware functions (Zeno Search Assistant, ZenoPopUp Blocker) from my client's computer. I purchased and ran Spyware Doctor from PC Tools Software. It was able to remove enough of Zeno to remove the nuisance that Zeno created. It did not, however remove all files associated. The client uses McAfee Virus Scan. McAfee still noted the existance of Zeno. After contacting McAfee tech support, and notifying them that they detected Zeno but did not remove it, they directed me to do a low level DOS scan. I had to run this low level scan twice before McAfee was able to delete all files associated, and not report any Zeno file existance.

One final note. There is a lot of information about these Zeno programs on the Net. There are also many solutions suggested. I thank all of you that gave me suggestions, but I must admit that some of them were not useful.
