I am also having problems doing a re-install. I don't know my user ID or password and don't have a password reset disk or know the administrator password. How can I get to the re-install without these?

You don't need any IDs or passwords to do a reinstall.
As stated in the previous post, boot off an XP CD and wipe the machine that way. This will remove all accounts and passwords.
