I am having trouble connecting to my LAN network.
I have a Marvel Yukon 88E8036 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller in my laptop.
In network connections It says a network cable is unplugged and I know they are plugged in correctly.
Under properties it says the device is working properly.
When I connect another computer it works fine so I know it isn't a problem with my cord.
In Ipconfig I get an IP address for my wireless network but i get "media disconnected" under my local connection.
Usually I just have to plug in my laptop into the wall in my dorm room and the LAN work fine.

Thanks for any help possible.

When do you connect LAN cord to your laptop? After or before turning it on?

Some laptops have power saving features that are turning of LAN port if it wasn't connected at OS start. Please check it with connecting LAN cable before you boot your laptop.

Are lamps on laptop's LAN connector are lighting up after plugging in the cord?

i plugged in the LAN cord before I powered on my laptop. I have tried unplugging and plugging back in while the laptop was powered on.
I have never had a problem with it before yesterday. All summer I have been using my wireless internet.
I have a wireless internet light (which is on) but I don't have a LAN light with the cord plugged in.
I think i need to uninstall my ethernet adapter and reinstall it but I want to try other options first.

Check if the LAN lamps are lightening up (at least for the moment) during boot (before OS starts) when cord is plugged in. Lighting this lights up is internal logic of card, not the driver (however some drives possibly can change that.

If they don't light up I suspect that your LAN adapter is broken and you will need to send your laptop to vendor for repair (it's quite common problem with network ports).

You can also try to boot your PC with some kind of Linux LiveCD and check if your LAN connection will work on another OS.
