I have no idea where to even begin posting this one.

I am enough of a do-gooder and flibberytgibbet combination to feel OK about paying for AVG anti virus, even though I know it's freeware. It turns out that what I did was take out a subscription to some "CA Anti-Spyware" site that is now telling me my antivirus is now expired (it isn't), I can't get updates until I pay them again (I am getting my updates) and all kinds of stuff.

And their freakin window pops up every time I restart my computer:

http://home3.ca.com/...amp;userLevel=1

How do I make it go away? ATF isn't catching it and Windows Clean up isn't getting it either.

Oh, to be technically savvy.

Thanks in advance.

Hello amusinglisa

Lets get a look at whats running on your system

Please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) and save it to your Desktop.
  • Close all other windows before proceeding.
  • Double-click on dss.exe and follow the prompts.
  • When it has finished, dss will open two Notepads main.txt and extra.txt -- please copy (CTRL+A and then CTRL+C) and paste (CTRL+V) the contents of main.txt and extra.txt in your next reply.

Hello Lisa sorry for the delay

Click on start, then control panel, and then double-click on add/remove programs. From within add/remove program uninstall the following if they exist by double-clicking on the following entries:

CA eTrust PestPatrol Anti-Spyware

Reboot your computer let me know if you still receive the pop up

Post back a fresh DSS log for me please ( it will only produce the main.txt)

Looks just fine :whistling:

BTW I removed the HJT log section from the DSS log as we don't want them posted outside of the malware forum

Any other issues ?
