From Friday gamers will be able to buy an Xbox 360 with a 20GB hard drive and one wireless controller for EUR359.99. The move comes at the perfect time for the IT giant to plant a seed in consumers' thoughts ahead of Christmas and Microsoft said as much in a statement it issued on Monday, which said the price cut would make the console affordable to more people come December.

Meanwhile, the new pumped up version of the console, the Xbox 360 Elite, will cost EUR459.99 and will be released on Friday. The juiced-up Elite comes with a 120GB hard drive and a high definition multimedia interface, which is aimed at users of high definition TVs.
