I recently developed a strange problem. The text editor that I use recently stopped working in full-screen mode.

I cannot pin it down to any specific point in time (an install, XP upgrade, etc.). Just that one day - fullscreen mode didn't work. The machine I'm having trouble with doesn't have system restore enabled.

I also found that it happens as simply as running CMD, then EDIT. It works fine windowed, then if you ALT-ENTER to full-screen mode, it hangs. No keyboard input.

If you ALT-ENTER back to windowed, it's still frozen. The machine itself is OK, you can kill the CMD app without problem.

This hang-in-fullscreen problem does NOT happen if I boot in Safe Mode. So I am guessing that there is a new driver somewhere that's preventing keyboard interaction with full screen mode. I rolled back the video drivers to about the Cro-Magnon era :whistling: but nothing.

Any suggestions as to where to look, driver-wise or service-wise?

Thanks in advance,

Dan
