Well do you want a widescreen, I would strongly suggest one? Also what do you do? And do you plan to upgrade to Vista in the future?

PS: I just upgraded from a 15" too, to a BenQ FP202W V3 20" 5ms DVI Widescreen LCD Monitor.

THIS should be great cause it has the same High res as a 22" LCD Monitor, and its cheaper than a 19". Or if you want HD go for THIS.

Stick with well known brands for LCD's, failure to do this with increase your possibility of getting a monitor with dead pixels.
For a more future proof monitor I highly recommend HDCP. If your unsure of what this is, please feel free to ask.
Among the better brands are Samsung and LG. Are you using this monitor soley for office use? Are you planning on picture editing? Also what's your budget?

I will be using the monitor for gaming and I am running windows vista on it. My budget is about $250

Ok if you are gaming and using Vista I would get a widescreen, DVI, <10ms response time, >900:1 contrast ratio. The best monitors are Samsungs, you just can't go wrong. Some other manufactures that have a good reputation is BenQ, LG, ViewSonic (cheaper usually), and Acer. I made a quick list for you, here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Productcompa...400&bop=And
The Samsung is smaller but it is great in performance. The Viewsonic is the biggest and is the only monitor I would trust that is under $250 and is a 22". And I have the BenQ.

Edit: Just found this Sumsung. It is perfect for you. In fact when I was getting my BenQ, I was debating whether or not to get it. I probably should have.

The contrast ratio is a little low though. For a good monitor a contrast ratio should be at least 900:1. And I usually recommend something of like 1000:1 or higher.

It's 10$ over budget, but it's well worth it. I have the two of the 226BW monitors, they are great. The only difference between the one I suggested is 2ms on mine, 5ms on the other and .4", and the 40$ difference.
This monitor is great, the only downside is that it cannot be adjusted horizontally or vertically, other then that I have nothing but pluses with it.

The 226BW is better and cheaper, the 226CW is the revised model that is even better and about the same price as the HP.
Then LG has a similar model to the 226BW that is again, cheaper then the HP.
Both better brands, both cheaper priced products.
