Is there anything I can safely delete in system32? I have more than 1.5 GB?

Thanks

I would say no

There will be bits and pieces but nothing of size, and nothing worth risking the stability of the system for

Thanks.

How bout backing up a level and anything in the C:\WINDOWS directory?

I took out ie7 updates, and the $uninstall$ stuff but what about dllcache and things like that?

System restore likes the dllcache

You could run disc clean up, click more options, clean up restore points and gain more than you woud sifting through Windows

If you see entries for programmes you have uninstalled then you could move them to a folder you create, run the PC, reboot the PC to check it runs without them, then delete them from there

Still of the opinion the size gain doesn't match the potential for wrecking the system
