I'm looking to purchase a new or refurbished laptop and I want to upgrade the ram. I've heard rumours of some AMD processors being incompatible with certain ram upgrades. Is this all just rumour or are there some processors I should steer clear of if I want to upgrade the ram? Also, if you have or know of some good laptop deals let me know, I'm looking to spend between 500 and 1000 USD. Thanks

New laptops these days tend to come with more memory than you actually need and you can often request a memory upgrade before it ever gets to you.

As to this rumour you've posted - there is no such incompatibility.

You might get a good deal with a refurbished laptop, but I recommend that you steer clear of them and go for something that's new. If it's refurbished it means it has already had problems at some point, I just wouldn't trust it...
