I have already posted this topic before but to no avail. So, I would like to post again. The problem returned. When I load a game, Team Fortress Classic or Counter Strike, my computer freezes. I suspect video problem. But it may be audio or software. I tried reducing video quality, it did not help. My best guess is that it may be X-Fi sound card, since I sent out pc for repair of video card and had the card replaced not so long ago, and this is not a new problem so it used to happen before the new video card was installed.

I recorded a video of what is happening during the "freeze process". SInce the maximum upload is 500 K I have no choice but to upload it to my youtube account. Please forgive me for attaching a link here, but this is the only way I can show you exactly what is happening. Here is the link.

Can someone please help me troubleshoot this issue. Thanks.

FYI: The click you hear on seconds 19-20 is me moving camera around. But the actual click before freeze that always occur is on seconds 21-22, and the hard drive is lit steady.

Hi. Sorry for the delay. Let me run some things by you before we start...

(1) When did this start? Has it always been this way?

(2) Are your drivers up to date? (If you don't know, tell me)

(3) Are you running other programs in the background such as instant messengers, etc?

Hello.

1.) It started a year or so ago. It would come and go. SO it went a way for a while. Now it is back.
2.) All drivers that can be updated were updated. I don't thing I can update my sound drivers as there is nothing available.
3.) There is a lot of stuff running on the background. But there is no "Applications" that are simultaneously running.

Edit:

In addition to this issue. Now it even got worse. When I play Windows Media Player it started to hangup as well.

Just before the issue started, do you remember making any system changes?

It's getting worse? hhhmmm...

Have you gotten your system checked for Malware by a Malware Specialist?

Ummm, I didn't check it for Malware in a while, but I have nod32 and ZoneLabs. ANd occasionally I run Spyware Doctor. I doubt its the issue. But who knows. I always make changes and stuff. My guess it's the soundcard and video card conflict of some sort.

That very well could be, but I'm concerned that it got worse... That really shouldn't happen... Why not have them check, and if you're clean we'll keep going?

To submit your HijackThis logfile for analysis, I suggest you go to the Malware Forum and run all the steps located in the START HERE. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own. If you are still having problems after doing the steps, then please post a HiJackThis Log in THAT forum. If you are unable to run and/or post a HJT log, then post that in your initial post in the topic you create in that forum.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).

OK I am back. My game still hangs up. I did quick disk check and it didn't find any errors. I am testing my DVD recording by copying from one disk to another to see if it will copy or give me error.

I also have problem with detecting and recording from video camera, but this I will save for later. Please advise.

Hi. Because we're starting something new, I just need to verify a few things...

Are we talking about burning, or gaming? Burning games?

Did you ever submit your HijackThis logfile for analysis as I requested?

Greetings. As you requested I did go through Malware support first. Here is that conversation http://www.geekstogo...ed-t169755.html I am trying to do two things.

1.) Burn DVD videos for backup. I just burned one from backup using Drag and Drop, it was half-full DVD, it worked. I then burned full DVD it worked as well. Now I used DVD shrink for another DVD, it didn't work. Apparently it "Could not perform end of Disc-at-once". I got the error which I will paste below. I also tried using Nero 7 to try and backup files that DVD shrink created. It did work. So, I can manage that way, but I am still curious why DVD shrink no longer works as it were before. I mean it does use Nero to burn DVDs. What else is curious, is that when I use Maxwell DVDs I get this "All at once" error even with Nero and at the beginning of burn. But when I use lower quality Playo, it goes through. Before the cleanup neither DVD could be written to completely. There was always error on lead out, and the DVD was rendered unreadable.

2.) Another thing I want to do is to play Counter Strike. When I load the game it hangs in the similar fashion of what I uploaded on YouTube.
This is major, issue for me.

Recently, my Windows Media player began to hang up the system just like if I were to play Counter Strike. I can't figure out why.

That is basically my dilemma at the moment.

Alright, well...

Do you know how many watts your power supply has?

I am not sure. But no more than 300. Probably less.

Ok, well... That power supply isn't sufficient. At least 450 watts I'd say. If you want to wait a bit before making a switch, I suggest removing Norton... Please download the Norton Removal Tool ... This should help you select which products to remove as well, so you might not have to reinstall Ghost after.

I ran all of this by a Malware specialist and an administrator, so I'm pretty confident this will help you as well... I have been in informed that NOD32 will do the trick, so we don't need to have other protection programs such as Zone Alarm installed. This will help you maintain some resources.

If you have any questions, let me know :whistling:

Well, Norton is not protecting anything. I only keep it for Norton Ghost. Zone alarm I use as Nod32 is not a firewall. As far as power, it is possible that it is not enough. Is there anything else you can suggest? The power supply is DPS-350 RBA. It is known as SONY 1-468-825-11 part.
