This is the same as MP2 files, RealPlayer can play MP2 files and it should be able to play the video as well.

Regarding Media Player, this is the official line:

Because Microsoft Windows operating systems provide only an MPEG-1 video decoder, Windows Media Player cannot play MPEG-2 program streams without an additional MPEG-2 video decoder (also known as a DVD decoder pack) installed.

This is available with software such as PowerDVD which you probably have already.

Media Player has been able to play standalone MP2 files since version 7.

You don't. It should use it automatically.
Which version of PowerDVD did you uninstall previously?

Can you not reinstall PowerDVD 7?
What exactly are you trying to play?

I'm trying to play a mpg file - It works when I play it on PowerDVD 4 but when I play It on wmp11 there is no audio.
I can't reinstall PowerDVD 7 unless I pay for It. Is there any other solution?

I managed to reinstall powerDVD 5 but still no audio in wmp11.
I also reinstalled my sound card just before the audio stopped playing.
I also had to install a new mp3 codec to get mp3's to work????

Error C00D10D1 is the missing codec error in Media Player. http://msmvps.com/bl...cles/17304.aspx might be of interest.

Is this file you're playing downloadable from somewhere?

It's really all mpg and avi files I try to play, they all work with K-lite media player though. Heres a screenshot when I opened the file with G-spot: [attachment=15542:screenshot.JPG]
and heres a screenshot of decoder checkup utility:[attachment=15543:1.JPG]
