Hi,

Some years ago i had a pentium IV 2Ghz, 60 GB disk, 2x256MB sdram Motherboard Via Pvmm2 and a Nvidia 5200 Fx 128Mb, my cpu performance wasnīt the best but it runned all program with good performance even games (gta san andreas for example) later i upgrade it with a 1Gb ram DDr and an Nvidia 6600 gt 256 mb. It had increased my performance a lot, but with time passing by it started to run slower and slower... the same programs iīve runned before are slowing very much and "breaking" a lot just like windows takes forever to iniciate even recording a DVD takes forever i canīt even record more than 1x speed, i donīt understand why, iīve tried everthing, spyware scans, virus scans, error scan, disk cleaning, disk desfragment, everthing, i even tried a free ram program without any good results i donīt know i think it might be invalid regestry entries or bios wrong configuration but iīm asking you profissionals for help

Forgot to mention that iīve even disable some of windowns effects to try increase performace but no chance

Hi. I think getting your HijackThis log analyzed by a Malware Specialist is a good idea, but it needs to be in the right place...

I suggest you go to the Malware Forum and run all the steps located in the START HERE. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own. If you are still having problems after doing the steps, then please post a HiJackThis Log in THAT forum. If you are unable to run and/or post a HJT log, then post that in your initial post in the topic you create in that forum.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).

Barbs2, please give them a couple days. The Malware Specialists are very busy, and even though they haven't replied to your log, that doesn't mean it's not being researched. If it is not answered in three days, please post in the Waiting Room ...

I realize that your position isn't a good one, but there's nothing I can do --- I'm not authorized nor am I qualified to analyze your log, and give you a proper diagnosis.

Alright, well, I'm thinking that maybe your IDE channels are running on the PIO settings, and not the DMA settings. I know that doesn't make much sense to you, but it will control speeds. Please follow these instructions...

(1) Right-click on My Computer and select Properties ... Please note that if the icon is not on your desktop, it should be located in the Start menu.

(2) Click on the Hardware tab

(3) Click on Device Manager

(4) You should see some categories come into view as the new window opens. Look for the one that says IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers and click on the plus (+) sign next to it.

(5) Right-click on the device named Primary IDE channel and click on Properties.

(6) Click on the Advanced Settings tab

(7) Should should now see an area for Device 0 and Device 1 ... For both areas, look where it says Transfer Mode. Inside the Drop-box next to Transfer Mode, do you see DMA if available? That option should hopefully be displayed without you selecting it. In fact, click here for an image.

If you have any questions, let me know.

So the settings you have listed look exactly as the picture shows? Both channels? If they are the same settings, then let me return with some new ideas.
