Hi there,

I updated my Windows XP yesterday installing the latest updates for IE7. I can't remember what update it was, I never took note of the update name because I wasnt expecting anything to go wrong. Now when ever I double-click on the internet explorer icon on my desktop or click the one in my quick-launch menu or the one in my start menu it just opens up the internet explorer properties screen.

It never done this before yesterday (Prior to installing updates)

Is there anyway I can fix this? I tried looking for a .exe in C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer but there isnt one there :S

Any help is appreciated,

Thanks :whistling:

Click review update history to see what you downloaded recently, note the KB numbers

Click start, control panel, add and remove, tick show updates at the top

Look for those updates, remove the IE ones until IE opens, or you may need to remove all the recently installed updates

Should I then reinstall the updates?

See how it goes first

Install them in ones, it was either a blip, or the same update will cause the same problem

These are the two IE7 updates that I installed the other day:
  • Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP (KB937143)
  • Security Update for Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP (KB938127)
I will try removing them 1-by-1 and see if it helps.
