I just downloaded the trial version of the Avira Premium Internet Security Suite.. It was good until I restarted my comp lol. Internet is simply not working.. I am connected to my router (wireless) signal is good at 54 Mb/s but I just won't receive any information from the router so when I try to load a website all I see is a white page.. I tried with IE and Msn isn't connecting either. So I uninstalled the program (sadly cause it looked really good) and it's still not working..
Maybe it has absolutely nothing to do with this software but I have using the comp just beside my laptop connected to the same Router (wireless) and it's working perfectly.. Any idea how I can fix this
Ok well internet is still not working on my laptop. Really don't know what's wrong.. Like I said before I am connected to my router with a good signal. It says I am connected to Internet and Home network.
So yea I really have no idea what's wrong Ran a Spy Bot - Search and Destroy Scan to make sure it wasn't a spyware problem but nothing. So yea I am completely lost and need my comp (internet) till school is starting back and already have to research to do.

I also tried to connected to another network (not in the same area) and I have the same problem (it says I am connected to internet but when I try to open a website or just sign in Msn it won't work)
So it's not a problem with the network but really with the laptop

After uninstalling Avira Anti-Virus Internet is still not working. Here's some SS..

1st step I would try is a system restore to a day before you installed the program.

Like I said before, It is not a network problem till :
1) Other computers connected on the network are perfectly connecting to the internet
2) I tried on 3 different networks now and it's always the same.

As you can see on that pic:

Posted Image

It says I am connected to internet but I cannot load any page.
And also won't receive any information (bytes) from the router.

I am using Firefox.
When I ping apple.com or any website it time out.
But when I ping another computer connected on the network it get a reply. So I am really connected.. but when another computer on the network try to ping me it doesn't work.
So it's like if there was a firewall blocking EVERYTHING on my laptop. But the problem is.. there's no firewall running :whistling:

I also get that error message on startup.

But I think it's only because I am not connected properly to internet.

ok open ie7 go to tools>internet options>connections tab>lan settings make sure all 3 boxes are unticked
1) automatic detect settings 2) use automatic config script 3)use a proxy server. if any are ticked after un ticking and clicking ok
restart ie7
Hate to ask the obvious but have you done an ip config on another computer and checked the rane ?
if above does not work
under the internet options click on the programs tab>manage ad ons disable all ad ons click ok restart IE7
if above does not work internet options > advanced tab> click on restore and apply if that fails go back and click on reset.
restart IE7 after each one.
the odd thing is when you start ie7 you don't get the problem page that ask for windows to try and fix it.
Cheers

1) Already checked all Proxy settings for both firefox and IE7 and all is normal.
2) I doubt it's a problem with IE7 till no program is working (well internet needed programs)
3) My bad here.. Like I said I am normally using Firefox and when I try to load a page with Firefox it only loads a white page.. I just tried with IE7 and it says something like :
1- Make sure you are connected to Internet
2- The website might have problems
(something like that lol)

Hate to ask the obvious but have you done an ip config on another computer and checked the rane ?

Well it's not that obvious till I don't understand :whistling:
All I did on that comp I am using right now (connected to internet obviously) is an ipconfig to find the IP address and then try to ping it from my laptop and like I said it worked. The I ran an ipconfig on my laptop to find the IP address and try to ping it from this comp.. and it didn't work.

It could be because firewall on the system you are sitting might be blocking the ping from this computer to your laptop.I have noticed that you said you have installed antivirus which starts with a something you said i dont remember but later you showed an error message you are getting from norton that shows you are using two antiviruses. You should uninstall one of the antivirus.I suggest you to uninstall Norton use the link below to remove it
http://service1.syma...005033108162039
as this is a special norton uninstaller by symanteck.
Many times it happend to me that ports get blocked due to some reason so download TCP/IP repair software from internet.
note down your TCP/IP settings. Then reset your TCP/IP.There will be one more button for winsock click on it too.
restart your system.
when the system opens set your TCP/IP settings.Restart system.
Hope it works.

I am posting from my laptop right now :whistling:
You were right sahyd2don.. well even if I fixed the problem before reading this post lol it was something related to winsock TCP/IP.
I searched a lot of google and found that 'simple' command.
netsh winsock reset catalog

Had to run Command Prompt from System32 and as an administrator then write this command. Restart comp and I can connect to internet!
The strange thing is that I still can't ping other computer on my network but oh well if internet is working I'm happy.

Thanks for your help and you might want to note that cmd for future issues.
