Ok its an hp pavillion ze4900 i start i up and it shows a splash screen (you know the one were there boot menu bios and stuff like that) so i try to go to the boot menu but nothing happens seconds later it beeps loud and constantly and it also wont hold a charge anymore any ideas? its also an xp

edit the beeps are evenly spaced, there are 2 ddr2 256mb sticks in it, it does the same thing without a hardrive in it, the usb ports went bad 3 months before this happened, and it crashed and only loaded a blue screen (i dont remember what it said)so i just sent it in even tho i could have reinstalled windows just so they could do that and fix my ports and they said no we wont fix this theres heat and water damage (it "was" covered under warranty) and i got it back in this condition if that helps

Hi haroldyray...

Sounds like either the battery or the power adapter is bad. Depending on what kind of beep you are hearing, it may also indicate bad RAM or bad video.

Try removing the power cord and battery...let it sit for a few minutes...reinstall the battery and reconnect the power adapter. See if it will boot.

Listen to the beeps if they happen...is there any pattern to them or just a series of beeps evenly spaced?
