I had a hard drive in my pc running windows XP. One day I turned it on and saw I had no taskbar and no icons. I searched online and say this seems to be a virus problem of sorts. I could ctrl-alt-delete and run programs from there, but that was it. I have since installed a new HD and XP on it but want to clean and recover as much off the old drive, which is now in an external hd case. It quit working altogether at one point but I was able to get it readable using chkdsk. Can anyone help me check, clean, and repair the old hd which is now in an external enclosure so I can recover files from it? Thanks, Joe.
