I have heard to many problems with that PSU brand, I highly suggest this one over the one your currently have.

If you want to save money I highly recommend home premium, I doubt you'll notice a difference between the two operating systems.

Hi there! I agree with James, that PSU would be much better. Also for the Vista Ultimate, I also suggest Home Premium (unless you know you need the Ultimate extras). Also, unless you need 64-bit, you should probably only go for 32-bit as it has better compatibility with programs and peripherals. Here are some other thoughts I have on your list:

Same hard drive, cheaper price - you'll get all the cables you need for it anyway with the motherboard.

Pretty much the same price, but faster (800MHz) RAM.

I find CoolerMaster make excellent cases, this one is a great example for around the same price you have mentioned that other one.

Last but not least, what about an optical drive? The minimum I recommend these days is a DVD Burner, they are cheap. Here's a good example.

Let us know what you think of the suggestions so far! :whistling:

ok i found a problem with the G-card i had picked out.....its not compatible with the new Direct X 10 so i changed some things based on ur recomendations. however the only reason i picked that PSU was b/c it was in a combo deal with my case so i found another combo deal and well see
what u think.

Please make shure i am goin to have enough power for this system.....ati said i do but please give me your opinion.

two of these: ROM's: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16827136118

now only one

G-Card: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814161174 (will i have enough power for two of these once i get some more money to use im cross fire with out buying a new PSU)

Memory: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16820146673

Free with memory a flash drive: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16820146678

The only reason i can affor this is because of the $70 in mail in rebates and the $60 instant rebate...if u find any thing cheaper that would be great...my coputer teacher that graded me on a build said its fine to ask for help to make shure i have good parts but i have to get the HHD in the retail verison....SRY

but yes i apretiate all your work.....the only reason i had 64 bit is because she told me it would run faster and that it was compatible with every thing....thanks for telling me that it wasn't b/4 i bought it

i can supply u with her E-mail if u don't belive me.....the class is just to get us familure with the inside of a computer......so she said it would be ok if i ordor the parts......but she said that this is the only way i have to make shure it will all work togeather........

that powersupply was a little low on power and i don't think it will be good for cross fire how about this one: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16817189005

No i was just curios as I believe marks should be earned personally but this of course isn't the case in this situation.
That PSU is another unnamed brand that won't be up to the task.
Take a high end DX9 card over a low end DX10 card, as a low end DX10 card isn't up to the challenge of playing DX10 with much detail. But the main reason being a high end DX9 card will give you more performance for a lower cost.
Crossfire isn't really worth the cost, if you can pay double the cost right now you'd be better off then paying for a second card later.

ok PSU: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16817171018

in my opinion, the HD series is better....i want you to look at the specs of the two following cards.....the only thing lower for the HD card is the memory interface. I will post both of the cards that i was considering to begin with and the current one i have chosen. thanks again for your time.

The new DX10 Card: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814127303

the old DX9 Card: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814102094

http://www23.tomshar...0...6&chart=288
Take a look a these charts, please acknowldge that both of the cards on this site are 256mb versions, however it does give you great insite on what to expect. The DX10 card has one huge advantage, it has a 128bit bus opposed to a 256bit on the DX9 card. If you don't know what a "BUS" is, look at it like a highway, the 128bit bus has a 2 lane road opposed to the 256bit bus having a 4 lane road, which road will transport more cars or in our case information. The 4 lane or 256bit, the 128bit bus is a bottleneck for this card. In general the perforance is better close, but once you enable AA and higher resolutions the difference becomes quite noticeable.
If you mind rebates this card is even better at the same cost, the core is clocked much higher.

Whats you budget for the PSU?

realy its about $50 i couldn't find any bad things about Rosewill or Cool Master.....but i have never owned any Rosewill stuff except for a PCI blower....I don't have much money for this build. Im buying a Laptop from www.hypersonic-pc.com in two years when i get my Navy Signing bonus.....my old desktop was suposed to last that long.....but it didn't and im not buying a new Dell Mobo when i can build one my self for a few hundred more....and im an AMD fan and they need sales....i do apretiate u sugesting ATI G-cards.....not the Nvidia counter part....

im equily glad u showed me that G-card performance chart...that helps a lot as well....I would have never thought that would have been the case looking at the specs....thanks again for not takeing offense by me not beleveing you the first time.

New Egg says that the Master Cool PSU is good for "MTBF >100,000 Hours "

and it only needs to last 2....i just don't quite understand the power and how do you know what you need? other than the 20 +4 pin power conector and the PCI-e 6 pin for the G-card

I was aware of the "highway" but i guess i was just being dumb....the bite rate just didn't register.....sry bout that one....my bad....

my goal for this build was to make a computer with great cooling because that what killed my and many other Dells.....

I think i will use that Card u sugested....will it look as good on a HD screen as the HD series?

well i have a 19' HDTV max res is 1440 X ??? i don't remember.....thats the only reason i was looking at the HD series

I'll see what I can find...

and im an AMD fan and they need sales....

Yeah they need just about every sale they can get right now, they have major financial issues right now. Just a head up though Intel is a better value/performance, your call what you buy.

im equily glad u showed me that G-card performance chart...that helps a lot as well....I would have never thought that would have been the case looking at the specs....thanks again for not takeing offense by me not beleveing you the first time.

I'm here to help :whistling:

New Egg says that the Master Cool PSU is good for "MTBF >100,000 Hours "

Basically you want to know how many amps are on the 12V rail, if it has over/under voltage protection to prevent fires and lastly you want to check for reviews on the web. These reviews will show you to what degree the voltages fluctuate, the more it does, the faster your components will deteriate thus they have a shorter lifespan. Simply put, if you can't find a review on a powersupply it isn't really worth buying, unless it's really new to the market.

I was aware of the "highway" but i guess i was just being dumb....the bite rate just didn't register.....sry bout that one....my bad....

Nothing to be sorry about, we all miss things from time to time. No you wern't being dumb at all.

I think i will use that Card u sugested....will it look as good on a HD screen as the HD series?

Correct, however you won't have high definition unless you have a resolution of 1920×1080, however the first resolution that you will find in a monitor that will support 1080p is 1920×1200. Also you need a HDCP capable monitor to display HD.

well i have a 19' HDTV max res is 1440 X ??? i don't remember.....thats the only reason i was looking at the HD series.

if this is the case then your monitor cannot display HD as it simply doesn't have enough pixels.

I just relized the time and have to go to bed, I will review this tomorrow, if I havn't awnsered by 8p.m. please bump the thread. Also, if you have any more questions feel free to ask, or if I forgot to awnser some let me know. I will suggest a PSU tomorrow.

I just cannot find an adequate PSU for a 50$ price tag, either we are going to have to adjust some parts or your going to need to raise your budget.
You choose, the PSU you mentioned would be a close call for running one card, never mind two (impossible as there arn't enough cables).
