the way to determine what video card to buy is first you have to decide what games you want to play...then see what they say (the game makers) ...as far as requirements..don't look at the minimum...go with their recommended...do that for all the games you want to play...that will give you the range of video card your going to need...
adding ram is both cheap and easy to do...

Happyrck, Thank you for that bit of info. Do I have to contact the manufacturer of the games or can I find it somewhere on the disk? How do I add ram etc? Kirny1

the step by step to install RAM is here...its a bit dated but will work...go here to see EXACTLY what RAM you need...
you DO NOT have to buy their ram just find out what your mobo will support...like DDR 400 or PC 3200 ...then check at NEWEGG...ZIPZOOMFLY...TIGER DIRECT...get name brand memory...avoid the off brands...Corsair Crucial Kingston OCZ and a few more offer lifetime warranties...get those... I personally like Corsair but have installed all of the above and not had a problems..
just Google the games names to get to the game makers website and check the requirements for each game...remember look at the recommended specs

Q: Will my system recognize the maximum upgrade?

A: Possibly

How much memory your Windows OS will recognize depends on which version of Windows you are running. 32-bit versions of Windows will see (and utilize) only 3GB or 3.5GB. To utilize more memory, install a 64-bit version of your OS. More information about OS memory maximums can be found at http://www.crucial.c...r.aspx?qid=4251.

Q: What memory goes into my computer, and can I mix speeds?

A: DDR memory with support for DDR PC2700,DDR PC3200,DDR PC4000 speeds.

Because DDR memory is backward-compatible, you can safely upgrade your system with any of the guaranteed-compatible DDR speeds listed below, even if your manual calls for PC1600 or PC2100 speeds.

Q: How much memory can my computer handle?

A: 2048MB.

Adding the maximum amount of memory will improve performance and help extend the useful life of your system as you run increasingly demanding software applications in the future.

Q: Do I have to install matching pairs?

A: No.

No, you can install modules one at a time, and you can mix different densities of modules in your computer. But if your computer supports dual-channel memory configurations, you should install in identical pairs (preferably in kits) for optimal performance.

Q: Does my computer support dual-channel memory?

A: No.

Your system does not support dual channel.

Q: Does my computer support ECC memory?

A: No.

Your system does not support ECC. Because ECC and non-ECC modules should not be mixed within a system, install the same type of modules that are already in your system.

I will have to put our first born up for collateral but we will see if I can in a day or so. That's when the check comes and then we pay the bills. If anything is left over, we're in. Thanks again. It seems as those folks giving me the radiation treatments always want money too. Nothing is free anymore.
