I use a Matshita DVD-RAM UJ841-S on a Toshiba laptop.

For some reason I have no trouble burning a multi-layer DVD (DVD9). Well, I USUALLY have no troubles, every now and then it catches a glitch and a very expensive disk is ruined, but that's not my issue here.

My trouble comes in when I try to backup a multi-layer DVD disk (such as a very rare DVD i just bought). I use CloneDVD (but have tried 1Click DVD Copy and others as well). It comes up to 50% then ejects the DVD half-written and tells me that there is a problem with my hardware. But when i burned a DVD (my projects for university), a multi-layer disk worked fine and it burns without any problems?
