Secondary Hard Drive dissapeared

Hi guys, a few months ago a bought a SATA hard drive, but my system only came with IDE cables, so I brought my computer a computer store and had them install the hard drive. Today, when I opened up My Computer, the SATA HD doesn't show up. Any suggestions?

I opened my computer, unplugged the cable, then plugged it back into the drive and now it shows up again. But I don't know why it disappeared in the first place.
