The Core 2 Duo E6750 is $80 cheaper and faster then the Q6600 in gaming. Also the E6750 is an extreme overclocker with >%50 overclock with stock cooling.

Just realized you had a monitor mixed in there. I would not trust that manufacture. When buying a monitor only go with well known names. If you want a a 24" for gaming any of these should do: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16824001234
The two Samsungs are the same except the one is open box. I would go with the Samsung open box because it is the cheapest and Samsungs have the best quality LCD monitors.

You can get a 20X DVD-R/+R burner for about $2 more. That Thermalright cooler requires a 120mm fan to be attached to it. Also I believe that case has a duct in front of the CPU so you may have to slightly modify the case to make the cooler fit. Other than that it looks like a sweet build.

Don't like the power supply, don't like any OCZ power supplies due to their labeling system.
I highly recommend this PSU, http://www.newegg.co...N82E16817371001
if you want to save 25$, you can buy it here.

Confirming what titan said, the CPU duct will have to come off for the thermalright 120 to fit in the case.
Since you getting the thermalright 120, stick with the Q660 and overclock it, I'm assuming this is what your doing as your buying the best heatink on the market. Also you need to consider a 120mm fan if you do plan on doing so. If you don't plan on overclocking stick with the stock cooler. Remember you can always overclock, but you can't add cores.
I always recommend buying a monitor at a local store, you may pay more but you know what your getting. To me you can't consider buying a monitor online unless you have looked at countless reviews on it, but a monitor good for one person isn't always good for the next. Also I cannot stress this enough, always get a name brand LCD.

Just a final point to add, if you add a few dollars extra again to your DVD Burner, you can get a SATA version which will be much better for internal cabling and airflow in your case. Other than that, all points seem to be made already.

I agree with James and Jackflash - get a decent-brand monitor with a good warranty, I also like the idea of buying local because then you can check it out in the shop before you buy.

I am personally about to order the same PSU that James has recommended, it's excellent, and if you can get a good deal, go for it!

Nice build! Cheers :whistling:

I have that exact PSU and love it.

Stores usually have a crappy selection of monitors, but if you can find a good one it that selection that is great. If this is a gaming monitor I would recommend an LCD monitor with less then 10ms response time, a contrast ratio of at least 900:1 or higher, and from a good LCD manufacture (Samsungs are #1, Acer, BenQ, LG is pretty good, and Viewsonic is cheap but not crap.)

I disagree with this completely, best buy and futureshop (canadian version of bestbuy, now owned by bestbuy) supply a great range of monitors. Also if a monitor is going to be used for gaming it should have no more then 5ms, otherwise you will see ghosting. I personally find I can see slight ghosting on 5ms but not much, most don't even notice. I'm just picky.

Wow I guess Canada is a lot better. Just the other day I went to Best Buy and the best monitor was like 15ms with like a 700:1 contrast ratio, not to mention completely overpriced.

I got my two samsung monitors (226BW) from futureshop, best buy has the same selection. The monitor has 3000:1 contrast ratio and 2ms response time. Also it was only 10$ more then online, but once you factor in shipping prices they were both roughly the same price. Staples I find it terrible, only work related monitors and like you said, they're overpriced like there is no tomorrow.
