Hi,

There is an option in MS Outlook 2003 under in "Rules and Alerts" to "perform a custom action" to emails you specify. However, my custom action drop down box is empty - how do i create a custom action?

My goal here is to automatically delete messages in the "Sent Items" folder sent to ONE specific email address. If there is another way to do this please let me know.

I have looked all over on how to create a custom action, so if you know how please tell me! and maybe show me where i can find some documentation on it too!

Thanks
Joe

I had a thought about this...because the messages are in your Sent Items folder, this may sound a little backwards...

1. Open your Sent Items folder.
2. Right click on the message you want to auto-delete and click on the Create Rule option.

There are 2 sections in the Create Rule window.

In the top pane (When I get an e-mail with all of the selected conditions):
1. Check the first box (From 'your e-mail name')
2. Check the 3rd box (Sent to...) and specify the appropriate item from the drop-down list.

In the bottom pane (Do the following):
1. Check the 3rd box (Move e-mail to folder:) and select the Deleted Items folder.
2. Click OK.
3. Click on the Tools menu, Options, and then the Other tab.
4. Check the 'Empty the Deleted Items folder upon exiting' box.
5. Click OK.

Results:
- this rule should only apply to the Sent Items folder.
- the associated e-mail messages will be deleted automatically when you close Outlook.

Hope this helps.

Budha.
