Green Screen on Video

Whenever I try to watch a Video on my regular home page (news, or CBS website etc), I get the audio portion but not he pciture. I just get a green screen.
I can however watch videos on You Tube (lucky me??)

We have had this computer for almost a year and I am at my wits end trying to figure out why???

What am I doing wrong???

HP Pavillion a1020n Windows XP purchased earlier this year brand new
