Hi Ther!!
My computer has been infected with a trojan i cant remove
My mcAfee Anti-Spyware picks up a program called RemoteSpy, which i remove however after i have used the internet or any other program the program appears.
I now run McAfee when i log on, when i go on the net and when i log off.
However my internet explorer homepage keeps changing to about:blank with some funnny searching website on it..
I have also noticed that in my c:\docandsettings\adminstrator a couple of files called 1.dat 2.dat 3.dat 4.dat and cc.cc are appearing and reappear even i delete them.
I have deleted them from my registry but they appear again!!
I am running sygate personal firewall and some funny programs keep on trying to connect but i do block them

A day ago the trogan-Spy .Html.Smithfraud.c trojan hit me and i used ur forum to try and remove it, my mcafee didnt pick up any more spyware jus the RemoteSpy
I followed ur help to delete the files from my reg and comp and hope it stays like that!!

But i dont know how 2 remove RemoteSpy!!
Any help??
i am using Norton Antirus 2003 with the latest virus defs and at no point has it found any virusses when scaniing.

Hi db187

Let us take a closer look at what is running on your PC. We'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool (HiJackThis) and post a log back here with the results.

Click the HijackThis Guide in my signature, download it and follow the instructions in the guide.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.

Hi db187

We need to run the following online virus scans:

http://www.ravantivirus.com/scan/
http://www3.ca.com/virusinfo/
http://www.bitdefend...can/licence.php
http://www.commandon.../eval/index.cfm

When completed post a new HJT.Log and any information from the virus scans.

Thanks
