I am trying to play Age of Empires 3 with a friend via "Direct IP"
We both have routers and opened the ports listed at www.portforward.com through the Control Panel, if that is indeed the correct way of opening ports.
We still can't seem to connect to each other, and I have no idea why. Whats the problem and how can it be solved?

Well You have forwared the ports on your routers but what about the windows firewall?

You will also need to forward them throught the windows firewall and any others if you have them installed

Hope this helps

Ok that would also be a problem

To forward ports on your router go back to portforward

http://www.portforwa...routerindex.htm

Folow this link then select your router off it, Next select Age of Empires 3.

Then just follow the guide and it will explain it all.

You will need to do this on both of your routers

Hope this helps :)
