I dont even use Internet Explorer i use firefox and since three days ago ive done a sys restore, tried to uninstall IE6, stopped it in Task Manager, and stopped it in AntiSpyware still it immediately starts itself again in my processes and theres two occurences of it, i end task and right back they come i think it started when i tried to license 3D Studio Max 5 and it tried to access the internet using IE6 as default please help this is taking valuble ram up and im a gamer or i wouldnt care and i cant uninstall IE6 cause of course its being used by another user or program and it says in task manager that im running it not the system, so im sticking with the licensing issue of 3D.....

I am not clear on what you need help with? You need to keep IE to download windows updates.

There is an extension for Firefox called appropriately enough Windows Update. This extension will take you from Firefox and open Internet Explorer (or any other IE engined browser like Slim Browser, Avant, Maxthon etc., your choice) on the Windows Update page.

Sounds like you might have some malware. Why don't you click the hijack this guide in my signature and follow the instructions and post a log. We'll look at it then.

You have a great deal of malware, but without windows updates you will be reinfected as soon as you sign onto the internet again.

The first step in this process is to apply Service Pack 1a for Windows XP. Without this update, you're wide open to re-infection, and we're both just wasting our time.
Apply the update, reboot, and post a fresh Hijack This log.

When you installed Messenger Plus 3, did you follow these instructions?

Third party MSN Messenger extension that adds a number of useful features. Bundles the hard to remove C2Media LOP adware. The software does offer you a choice during setup - make sure to install MessengerPlus WITHOUT that "sponsor program"!

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure.

Please save Hijack This in a permanent folder (i.e. C:\HJT). This ensures backups are saved and accessible.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

The following are not necessarily spyware/malware, but we suggest you place a check mark next to the following entries, as these programs may be taking up system resources.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WinampAgent] C:\Program Files\Winamp\winampa.exe
(Description: The WinAmp Agent. This puts a WinAmp icon is your system tray. It is completely unnecessary, and some viruses may hide in this file. Removing this entry will free up a small amount of system resources.)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WinampAgent] C:\Program Files\Winamp\winampa.exe
(Description: Loads the System Tray icon for the WinAmp media player. Can be used to mantain file associations so programs like QuickTime and RealPlayer don't take over as default player for various media types. Available via Start -> Programs. If you don't use WinAmp constantly, removing this entry will free up some system resources. )

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_02\bin\jusched.exe
(Description: Sun Java update scheduler. Checks for updates. Not necessary. Removing this entry will free up a small amount of system resources.)

Please reboot into safe mode (continually tap the F8 key while your system is starting, select Safe Mode from the menu).
Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files in bold (if found):

C:\Program Files\MessengerPlus! 3<<entire folder

Run adaware according to the previous instructions, and clean out your temp. files. Let me know how it's running. :tazz:

If you click the above in hijack this, you'll just stop it from starting up when you boot up the computer. It won't be deleted from your system.

Did I ask you to run ccleaner? Find it at majorgeeks.com. Run it.

I don't know why you would have to reinstall xp again. Give me another log. Tell me exactly what error you are having now.

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.rbqrkipxn...HaLzcPYsl4u.cgi
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MessengerPlus3] "C:\Program Files\MessengerPlus! 3\MsgPlus.exe"
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MessengerPlus3] "C:\Program Files\MessengerPlus! 3\MsgPlus.exe" /WinStart
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [first 2] C:\DOCUME~1\ALEXLA~1\APPLIC~1\OPTION~1\LOAD TEAM.exe
O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_02\bin\npjpi150_02.dll

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Post back a fresh HijackThis log and we will take another look.
