windows xp problem

hi my mate has a problem with his xp at the moment. he gets this message

ashDisp.exe
unable to locate componet because aswCmnOS.dll.


he has tried a restore, but it never completes.

These are processes related to Avast anti-virus. I suspect that you have an incomplete error message. Likely the easiest fix would be to uninstall and the re-install Avast.

thats what it will be, he installed that, and everything went to pot, i will see if he can get it uninstalled like

that worked thanks, now another problem. when connecting to net now, it says WINDOWS CAN NOT MAKE A CONNECTION. router etc are all fine
