Computer running strange

My computer started running a bit strange. It would freeze, run, freeze, run - with each one having an interval of several seconds.

At the same time, maybe just after, windows installer 3.1 started every time I right-click something. For example: when i right-click a .rar extention file, windows installer would start up. Happens with other extention files as well.

Does anyone have any experience with this?
