hey guys im new to this site and i needed some help on some lag on cs

i just inserted 512 more mb of ram so i got 768 but when i play and go through smoke, my fps drops from about 60 to 30 then to 12/13/15

everything else is sorta normal

i dont know what to do... maybe its my video card but i need some help thanks

overall your hl2 performance will be much better with the additional memory. However, much of hl2 is eyecandy. depends greatly on your video card. depending on your video card you will probably need to reduce some of the visual effects.

it says i have a nvidia geforce 2 mx400
which i think is pretty crappy of course

but i just want performance in counter strike... for no fps dropping n stuff so yeah

well the only way your going to get performance is to run half life 2 in dx8 compatability mode.

now that said you won't get any of the water effects or other cool textures and effects.

best bet is to upgrade your video card.

well man if ya need a smooth runing cs u need to change ur graphicC.

try Geforce fx5600 256mb

u cant play cs smoothly with an mx400

CS is kinda a marketing for graphic cards

New version need a new graphic card

U think Nvidia would sponsor huge CS tournaments like CPL just 4 fun

and turn vertical sync off

how do u turn off vetical sync and
what is the ESWC and what does it do?

Vertical sync.

Desktop Properties > Settind > Advanced > Your Graphic Card > Performance & Quality > Vertical Sync


ESWC GUI (electronic sports world cup)

its a configuration of commands that is used for this tournament
its kinda the best setting for LAN play
