my hp pavilion xt963 wont run at all

ok im out of ideas,this has been bugging me..ok my power supply will only run when the computer is on,it has a green light on the back that tells you when it has power..i plug it in to the motherboard and nothing happens,ill wiggle the connector a little then the power supply turns on and the green light on the motherboard turns on when i didnt even hit the power button,the screen doesnt come on when this happens and the processor starts to get really hot,it doesnt even beep either.should i just drop it and get another motherboard and if so where can i find the same motherboard,by the way its a yellowstone motherboard if that helps any.any help or suggestions woulp be greatly appreciated :)
