Hello, I saw the step by step instructions for sharing a printer here: http://www.geekstogo...ng-t102163.html

My main PC where the printer is installed has Windows XP. Two laptops have Windows Vista. One of the steps shows to add the driver for other versions of Windows, but the list shown does not include Vista. I do not know how to allow the Vista laptops to see the printer installed on the desktop PC that has Windows XP.

Can someone help me with this?

Thanks.

Share it on the XP machine, set all machines to the same workgroup, works exactly the same way under Vista as it does under XP.

Is there a hand under the printer.

Hmmmm, what do you mean a hand??

I am pretty sure I have shared it correctly. I followed all the steps on this site.

I do have the CD for the printer. It is a Canon Pixma ip4300.

If you mean what shows in the Control Panel under printers, then yes, but mine says Canon 1p4300

Yes, it does have the hand.
The two links you posted do not work.
Should the printer software be installed on the Vista machine?
I don't think the CD has the Vista driver. The Canon website describes the ip4300 compatability as:
OS Compatibility Windows® XP/2000/Me/98 and Mac OS® X v.10.2.8 to 10.4.x
I can get the driver for Vista off the Canon web site. Should it be installed on the XP machine and the Vista machine, or just the Vista?

Ok the links time out
You need to go to the canon site and download the vista software and run it on the vista machine
go to this site then click on drivers/software
then download vista
click on me
Cheers
