Hello everybody!

I just began using the DC++ direct connect client a couple of months ago, and have had very limited success. I am able to connect to various hubs and interact with other users, but the search function only works about half of the time. What will typically happen is this:

I search for a file, and a list of results is retrieved. I will download one or more of the files. Everything is working properly at this point. However, after two or three more searches, the search feature seems to hang up, and no results will be returned until I reboot the computer. Also, at this point, whatever file(s) were in the middle of being downloaded just stop in mid-transfer. If I quit the application and re-load, the search feature still doesn't work. However, strangely, I am still able to chat with other users in the hubs. If I restart Windows or reboot the computer, DC++ works again for another ten minutes or so, but then the exact same issue occurs.

I am at a loss to determine what exactly is going on. I am sharing plenty of files and have properly registered on the hubs that I use, so I don't think it's an administrator blocking me. Also, my firewall is set to allow connections from DC++, and my router is also set up correctly to allow transfers from the port that the DC++ software uses.

If it helps, I am using version 0.699 which is the latest version (I think).

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!!

We here at GeeksToGo will not assist you with issues relating to P2P file sharing programs. While many of these programs are-in-and of themselve legal, most things aquired by their use are not. Instead of attempting to differentiate between the legal use of P2P programs and the illegal use thereof, we have decided to stop helping with issues regarding this software. It is also in your best interest to know that many P2P software packages come bundled with spyware/malware/virii and that their use greatly increases the chances of your computer becoming infected. I strongly suggest that you uninstall these programs and refrain from using them at all costs.
