I recently tried to update FireFox to the newer 2.0.0.7. When I now try to start Firefox I get the message," The program must close to allow a previous installation attempt to complete. Please restart." Restarting does not solve the problem. I the add/remove software dialogue shows Firefox 2.0.0.7 to be loaded onto the system. But, when I try to unistall it I get no response. The program continues to be listed.

What suggestions do you have to remedy this?

This issue can also be caused by using the Firefox Pre-Loader utility. Turn it off completely before you do anything with Firefox, upgrade or remove.
