ok this is really weird, i have an anime folder with, you guessed it, anime! well since some of them have 2 audio tracks on them, i needed some codecs to play them. well they worked fine for a while but then one day i opened my anime folder and i noticed a file in the system tray that i use to switch between the two audio tracks. i dont know what the file is called but its a little white filmstrip icon. Well i also noticed a drwtsn32.exe file in the windows task manager. It then locks up and restarts windows explorer and closes the folder, white filmstrip icon and the drwtsn32.exe. heres my hijack this log but i dont know if the registry is the problem.

Hello Invartact, Thank you for posting a new HiJackThis Log.

You may wish to print a copy of these instructions incase you need to reboot or disconnect from the internet.

Please download these programs:

FixLG
Download CWShredder here to its own folder.

Go here and run at least two of the online scans, allow them to delete whatever they find:

TrendMicro HouseCall
eTrust AntiVirus Web Scanner
Panda ActiveScan

Note any thing that can't be fixed.

Reboot when done.

Update CWShredder

* Open CWShredder and click I AGREE
* Click Check For Update
* Close CWShredder

Next run the first file we downloaded, FixLG.com

Close all the programs before running the tool.

Double-click the FixLG.com file to start the removal tool.

Click Start to begin the process, and then allow the tool to run.

Restart the computer.

Run the removal tool again to ensure that the system is clean.

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [DAEMON Tools-1033] "C:\Program Files\D-Tools\daemon.exe" -lang 1033
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WinampAgent] C:\Program Files\Winamp\winampa.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime

If you are using Microsoft's Tweak UI "powertoy" - german version, than please do not place a check mark next to these items. If you are not using it, then please place a check mark next to it.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NvMediaCenter] RUNDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\NvMcTray.dll,NvTaskbarInit
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NvCplDaemon] RUNDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\NvCpl.dll,NvStartup

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Reboot into safe mode.

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Please remove these entries from Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel(if present):

daemon.exe
winampa.exe
qttask.exe

Please note any other programs that you dont recognize in that list in your next response

Please delete these folders using Windows Explorer(if present):

C:\Program Files\D-Tools

Please delete these files using Windows Explorer(if present):
[color=red]Only delete these if you are not using Microsoft's Tweak UI "powertoy"[.color]

C:\WINDOWS\system32\NvCpl.dll,NvStartup
C:\WINDOWS\system32\NvMcTray.dll,NvTaskbarInit

Now run CWShredder. Click I Agree, then Fix and then Next, let it fix everything it asks about.
After that, Reboot.

Once the above is complete, please post a fresh HiJackThis Log.

i have one question before i remove the following:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [DAEMON Tools-1033] "C:\Program Files\D-Tools\daemon.exe" -lang 1033
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WinampAgent] C:\Program Files\Winamp\winampa.exe
If i am still using winamp and daemon, do I still need to remove them? I guess I can always reinstall them if needed but I was just wondering. Thanks for everything!

Hello,

If you are using those programs then you do not have to fix them. Sorry for the confusion, I should have asked you before I posted the fix.

Again, my apologies.

also, is there a way for Adobe Version Cue © and Steam to not start at boot? It just takes up alot of Processor speed and I'm using my friends AMD Athlon 2000+ until my AMD Athlon 64 3400+ comes in. If not, I can always end them in Windows Task Manager but it would be great if you could help me with that too. Thanks

Hello,

Yes there is a way for those programs to not start upon boot up.

Open the START menu

Click on RUN

At the prompt type in MSCONFIG

When that opens up, click the STARTUP tab

Here you can select which programs start when your computer boots up.

Your HijackThis Log looks clean, are you able to open up your Anime folder now and not have your computer lock up?

Let me know if there is any questions about MSCONFIG.

actually I have one thing...i installed an OGG or OGM codec called DirectShow Ogg Vorbis filter collection. That is the program that shuts down my explorer.exe when I got to my Anime folder. As I said earlier, some of my anime has 2 audio tracks so I need this codec ( or a similar verion) to play them. Could it be thtat the file I installed it with is corrupt? Until I hear back from you, I'll look for another version and post if I fix the problem.

OK. I found a fix for the problem. I decided to use Lazy Man's MKV 0.9.6 instead of DirectShow Ogg Vorbis. Once again, thanks for all the help!

hi, Jfcap asked me for help on this, just a quick question: is it just the audio track using that codec, or is it a .ogm, where both the audio and video are encoded in that?

Edit: also, when you say "shuts down" do you mean it hangs and you're forced to close it because it stops responding?

Its just dual audio but its is a(n) .OGM file. I think there are some music files that are .ogg files, but these are video files that have english and japanese language tracks.

Avohir and I are in the Geeks to Go Chat room, it would be easier if you could join the room, that way we can fix this faster.
