Have XP SP-2 Home network. Connections via wireless router. Use AVG and ZoneAlarm. In Network Connections I disable LAN and enable Wireless and have poor results. Copies from other network machines is slow, constant internet page time outs, etc.
If I enable LAN and disable wireless the problems go away.
I have run Windows Defender (no problems found) and AVG Anti-Spyware (3 worrysome problems detected and removed). AVG Scan found no errors.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Jim..

I would try again without the lan cable plugged in, also does it get better if you get closer to the wireless router?

Jaxisland,

I have been running with the LAN cable disconnected and the LAN connection disabled for the last week while I have struggled with this issue.

I forgot to mention that I have not always had this problem with this machine; however, I can't think of what I may have introduced that caused this.

Except, my wife upgraded to a new HP dv6000 machine running XP and my problems may have started around then??

Thanks for your response.

Jim..
