I seem to have a major problem, everything was ok up to yesterday, booted up fine, but when I went to go to another site (open another window) nothing blocked out, for example banking site, logged onto ok, but when opening new page nothing, tried to restore and this is the major part, system restore will not open on first click, it opens on 2nd click and when open just shows blank box, no place to click for restore, this happens on a lot of screens etc., when trying to stream audio, will not allow me too, states Flash is missing go to Adobe to download Flash and it will not allow me, I am sure a registry file has been modified but how do I get it to fix or fix it. HELP...........!

Hi Harry1950...

This problem can be caused by any number of things...including malware.

Click Start, then Run, type cmd and click "Ok". This will open a command session. At the command prompt, type the following, pressing "Enter" after each:
  • regsvr32 jscript
  • regsvr32 vbscript
  • regsvr32 /i
  • exit
Reboot and see if the Restore Calendar displays.

I would also recommend that you pay a visit to the Malware Forum and follow the instructions you'll find there.

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty--and you may not be-- post a hijackthis log in THAT forum. Do Not reply to or "bump" your own topic...if it shows a reply, it may be overlooked as one that is being worked on.

Got the system restore to work this am by following the following URL:

www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=c717d943-7e4b-4622-86eb-95a22b832caa&DisplayLang=en

you then can download Windows Script 5.6 for Windows XP, downloaded re-booted all seems ok at this time.

Thanks for your help......!
