I have two computers hardwired to a router and one by wireless. One of the computers that is hardwired disconnects from the internet after 10 minutes. I then have to restart to regain internet access and then it happens again every time. All other computers, both hardwired and wireless work fine all the time. It is running on Windows XP Professional and I have tried and researched everything and cannot get it to work. Please help.

Thank you

Did you try updating the firmware on your router?

Yes I have tried updating the software and I also connected the computer directly to the cable bypassing the router and it still disconnects after exactly 10 minutes. I even tried connecting through the wireless and the same thing happened.

I'm having the exact same problem...it's not the router or the ISP because I took the laptop to a friends house and had same problem with their connection.

Exactly 10 minutes and then my browser can't find any pages. Skpe and Outlook still work fine...

The problem started when I was messing around with some port settings trying to speed up a p2p file exchange. I obviously didn't know what I was doing.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Go Start>Run (Start search in Vista), type in:
cmd
Click OK.

In Command Prompt window, type in following commands, and hit Enter after each one:
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /registerdns
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

Restart computer.

If that doesn't work...
Go Start>Run (Start search in Vista), type in:
cmd
Click OK.

At Command Prompt, type in:
netsh int ip reset reset.log
Hit Enter.
Type in:
netsh winsock reset catalog
Hit Enter.

Restart computer.

If that doesn't work...
Download, install, and run WinSockFix: http://www.softpedia...inSockFix.shtml
Restart computer, and check again.

i tried all these things and it worked! it should be noted that when i restarted my computer I had to update Flashplayer. so if you are having these problems you might as well try that too.

good luck! and thanks!
