Hi does anyone know if i can create a backup disc from one laptop and reload into a different one, if that laptop won't reboot and I don't have any original discs, please?

Please clarify what you mean by "backup disc from one laptop". Do you mean a recovery CD set that you can make?

ok, yes you can. Not from the OEM recovery discs though. Follow the "barts way to create a bootable xp cd" on my sig. but use the folder i386 from C:\WINDOWS\i386.

As for the XP Key, get magic jelly bean keyfinder.

If anything does go wrong you can use a live version of Linux to recover data. you should install Linux on a small partition, for safety purposes.
