I've been spammed by a "click me" program that spams a msg ever so often "this call is not free, it comes with a 2.99 premium - yes or no" and I've also been spammed by popups from a site called searchmiracles and ads.revenue. Need help asap. Nooby to comps so plz go easy. I used Adaware, Spybot search and destroy and housecall online virus scan already.

Hi Ivan,

Shame on you for telling porky pies, it hasn't been a week, it only been three days and we have been very busy. :tazz:

Lets see if we can get you running back to normal.

You need to create a new folder on your C drive (for example C\HJT) install your HJT program in that folder and run it from there. That way it can create backups if required.

Please print off a copy of these instructions so that you can follw them when you need to reboot.

Firstly i would like you you to run the following free online virus scan and allow it to fix anything it might find.

PANDA ACTIVE SCAN

Reboot into SAFE MODE by tapping the F8 key whilst your PC reboots, use arrow up button to scroll to SAFE MODE and press enter.

Rescan with HJT and check the following if found, the previous processes may have removed them.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft Update Machine] gcm.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AlcxMonitor] ALCXMNTR.EXE
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Services] C:\windows.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [etbrun] C:\windows\system32\elitervu32.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ASDPLUGIN] C:\WINDOWS\system32\canada.exe -N
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Microsoft Update Machine] gcm.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Microsoft Update Machine] gcm.exe
O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://software-dl.r...ip/RdxIE601.cab

Ensure no windows open apart from HJT and click on FIX CHECKED

Set your PC to show hidden files. (Click below if you do not know how to)

Show hidden files

Using windows explorer find the following files/folders and delete them.

c:\windows.exe
C:\windows\system32\elitervu32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\canada.exe -N
ALCXMNTR.EXE

Reverse the proceedure of show hidden files to hide them again

Reboot normally

Download the following program to clean out temp files and junk

Cleanup

Rescan with HJT and post the log back

Hi Ivan,

You didn't quite do everything i told you, you did not create a new folder for HJT and run it from there. Please do so for the future. Although if you follow the advice below, there won't be a next time

That said CONGRATULATION your log is now clear :tazz:

From your log, I see nothing in the ways of trojans, nor any evil entities attempting to possess your computer, except for Windows but it's too late for that one. ;)

Here are some tips, to reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future, I strongly recommend installing the following applications:

Detect and Remove Programs:
  • How to use Ad-Aware to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Ad-Aware.
  • How to use Spybot to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Spybot. Similar to Ad-Aware, I strongly recommend both to catch most spyware.
Prevention Programs:
  • Spywareblaster <= SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed.
  • Spywareguard <= SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.
  • IE/Spyad <= IE/Spyad places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (Cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
  • MVPS Hosts file <= The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your coputer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer
  • Google Toolbar <= Get the free google toolbar to help stop pop up windows.
Other necessary Programs:
  • AntiVirus Program<= An AntiVirus program is a must! Whether it is a free version like AVG or Anti-Vir, or a shareware version like Norton or Kapersky, this is a must have.
  • Firewall<= A firewall is definatley a must have. Two good free versions are Sygate and ZoneLabs.
  • More Secure Browser<= Internet Explorer is not the most secure and best browser. There are safer and better alternatives available. I recommend Firefox, however Opera and SlimBrowsers are good as well.
And also see TonyKlein's good advice
So how did I get infected in the first place? and AntiSpyware Net's spyware article: Spyware, Adware, Malware: What it is, how it got on my computer, how to get rid of it, and how to prevent it.
